Mon Ami

Hello!

I got back from my retreat last night, and since I only got about 5 hours of sleep the entire weekend, I was asleep around 7 last night. What a great time we had!

I did manage to get my Mon Ami done. I didn't really have any charm packs that had enough for this project, so in my cleaning madness I found the border print, and I just love the border and then pulled red and green 30's prints. And I just love my little quilt. I hope you like it too!

I will post more pictures of other projects I worked on this past weekend....Oh and yes we are gearing up for Blizzard 2011 .....14 - 24 inches of snow due in within the next 2 or 3 days! Perfect for sewing :)

Happy Stitching!

Girls Get A Away Weekend!

Good Morning!

Today is the day we leave for our Girls Get Away Weekend! We will visit 3 shops today and then head over to the Bed & Breakfast and sew til Sunday afternoon!
I found this cute idea over at Pleasant Home's blog - a great way to use up left over candy canes - the small ones, you melt white chocolate and pipe it into the center and then decorate with valentines day sprinkles. I made one for each of my buddies and also a valentine candle mat I made a while back. Hope they like the goodies!

Well here is my stuff! I just have to bring down my clothes bag...hubby went to lift the project bag (the tapestry bag) ....he said HOW LONG ARE YOU GOING FOR??? Told him I would be back Sunday.....do you think he thought the bag was a bit to heavy!!!!

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

UFO's are organized?!?!?!

Good Morning

Well I hope you had a great weekend, our weekend was fun but a little sad when the Bears got beat on Sunday....but being a diehard - bleed Cubbie Blue fan..... I know Wait til Next year.

So yesterday I channeled all my energy into organizing my UFO's...see I had a hug bin the master bedroom closet, I had some in the cabinet, I had some in my closet. SO I gathered them all up and cleaned out this cabinet and filled it up with all my UFO's! I have them all written on paper as to what stage they are in and later today I will make an Excel spreadsheet - and hang it on the door in the cabinet.

This weekend is the annual January Girls Get A Way Weekend, so I have to get my projects ready for that, so I am back to cleaning up the mess I made organizing this! Why does that always happen -- you clean something up and something else gets messy.... OH bother!

Midwest Superbowl is TODAY!

Good Morning

I have quilted this weekend and yesterday I cleaned out one of my cabinets - well the top 2 shelves hoping to get all my UFO's in 1 place by early next week. I found a tote bag kit that must have been in there for about 8 years and I got that mostly done.

But today I will work for a little this morning and then something more important that quilting will happen...I know you say what is more important than quilting.....well if you live in the Ill/Wi are you know what I am talking about.......

Todays football game....

DA BEARS VS. The Packers!

We will head over to the brother in laws house for the entire family to be together for this game. And hopefully a victory party will begin after the game for DA BEARS!

Enjoy your day and Happy Stitches!

Friday Night Sew In Results

Good Morning!

I was super busy yesterday in the Creation Station! I am really really trying to get my UFO's under control. So since yesterday was Friday Night Sew In and I was off, I sewed most of the day.... I pulled this Thimbleberries Camp Picnic wallhanging or table cover out of my UFO box and I quilted it and bound it last night!! SO happy to have it done. I really like it back in 1996 when I started it and I still like it.

Then last year I bought these placemats at the Thrift shop for 60 cents for both. And I thought they would look cute with watermelon appliqued on them, so at about 11 PM last night I thought let's get this done!! So I did complete them before I went to bed last night!!

This morning I have been machine quilting a little wallhanging - I need to embellish it, so I might not get it all done today but I should have it done by Monday AM!

Back to sewing! have a super day!

Charming Chatter Word

Good Morning

Kelly over at Charming Chatter has issued a challenge to feature a word on our blog. Well I have finally picked my word......

Puttering
I was thinking about this for weeks, and this word just kept coming to mind. I love to putter, especially in the Creation Station. Puttering to me means just taking your time and relaxing and enjoy what you are doing. And that word suits me fine when I am creating.
Well I am off to .....Putter around in the Creation Station!
I hope you have time to putter today too!

Little Miss Shabby and More

Good Morning

What a great game on Sunday! Go Bears! Just one more win and we will get to be in the BIG GAME! So Exciting for us Bears fans....of course being a true blue Cubs Fan....you never want to get too excited because we are so used to being let down. So we have to take it 1 game at a time.

I did get a chance to finish up Little Miss Shabby Block 1 - I started this block on plain on Kona Snow and then I saw all the cool colors they were using on the Flickr group so I changed my mine and I am using a yellow with white dots! SO BRIGHT and so much more fun than that Kona Snow. I also am just using my scraps for borders. I really like the way block 1 turned out. What do you think?

Yesterday afternoon, it was cold and snowy here with a bit of freezing rain mixed in, that always makes for a nice day at home. I had this sweatshirt that was my moms and I really loved it, but it had a big stain on the arm, so I said to myself try to make it into a pillow and It worked. Here is the snowman pillow, looks great on my sofa and it is nice and soft.

And one last picture here is the Be Mine Blog tour heart needlecase. It was fun to do and I really enjoyed that blog hop some great ideas, if you want to see what everyone made go to Kims Big Quilting Adventure Blog (click on it on the sidebar.

I hope you have a great day! I am going to tackle a UFO today

Go Bears!

Happy Sunday!

Well today our Bears will be playing the Seatle Seahawks and dear hubby invited the neighborhood over, notice the neighborhood - not neighbor! So I have to tidy up a bit this morning and he is working on his homemade tamales.
I don't think I will get any stitching done today. Yesterday I went to my BOM and I got another step to the mystery quilt project and I am dying to get to it. Last night we watched the Packers beat Atlanta -- that is just what we wanted - Bears fans think it will be easier to beat the Pack than Atlanta -- oh my such much going on! Well it keeps Hubby very busy.
And Friday we went to one of my favorite shops about 2 hours from here and I got a couple of new snowman patterns, that I am eager to work on. And not to mention finich up the last 2 projects from the Be Mine tour. Hopefully later today I can get up to the Creation Station!
Happy Stitches! Go Bears!

Me Mine Blog Tour - another project I love!

Good Morning!

This is kinda what the project was yesterday over at Kims Big Quilting Adventure blog, hers was more of a tablerunner, but I changed mine up a bit - I still need to quilt and bind it.

I am so pleased I have been able to get a project done each day. Today it is at Carols blog and it is a really cool needlecase. I am off to work on that today. Another cold day here so sewing is perfect.

Be Mine Tour Day 3

Hello

I was up early this morning and printed out the pattern for the Be Mine Valentine Blog tour and finished my pillow by noon today! I really like it.

And I got my tablerunner quilted and bound too! I need to make another one for a shower gift, we have a niece that is getting married in July and her shower is in May.....so as I was making this runner, I thought you know a box of runners would be a nice gift. So I am going to make several for her for the different seasons - want to get this done this month so when I go back to work I won't have to worry about it.

Happy Stiches!

Be Mine Blog Tour Day 2

Hi!

Have you been checking out the blogs in the tour? I love this tour, I like to work with Valentines day fabrics. Today was a table runner, and here is what I have done so far, I only made 3 blocks this is for my kitchen island. I need to quilt it and bind it, hope to get that done tonight, after the bachelor!

Yesterday I found this Sandy Gervias panel in my sewing room and I made some candle mats.
This one is my favorite.

These are for my friends!

Be Mine Blog Tour - Project 1

Good Afternoon!

How has your morning been.... Mine BUSY!! But Productive :)

I went thru my valentines day scraps and I put some together and quilted them, I also just quilted single pieces of fabric. Here they are after they came out of the dryer.

Then I went up to the Creation Station and got out some rick-rack and trim and ribbon and here is what I created.

I can't believe I got 9 done. I also cut out little hearts from the left overs of the quilted fabrics, I have an idea for those and I will post that tomorrow.
I am heading back up to the creation station.....you have a great afternoon too!

First Thursday

Hello

Today is one of my favorite days of the month, First Thursday and I get together with my quilting buddies, and since I am off in the winter I got to spend all day stitching and talking to my friends a perfect day. We start with breakfast at 7:30 and then head over the basement of the bank and stitch and eat and laugh til 2! What fun and this month I decided to challenge everyone, I gave them a valentine challenge so we will see what they come up with. They were all buzzing about it, so I am sure everyone was thinking of what they could create.

I have been busy the last few days stitching away in my Creation Station. I completed this baby quilt for a friend to give as a gift, I love this pattern so quick and easy.

Then in the Yahoo Stashbuster Group they have an "ugly" block each month, last year it was ugly pinks, well I never finished that quilt (no surprise there!) So this year is "ugly" green, so this is the first block - I decided to combine the pinks and greens and I just love the way this block turned out. Too bad I am using scraps otherwise this would be great quilt. I don't think the blocks are ugly, I am just using up fabric -- trust me I need to do that.

Then in the Yahoo Group Quilted Table Runner Group, we are having a block swap, this is the block I made for this. We needed to make 4 blocks and they are done and ready to go - I will get them in the mail tomorrow. I am actually ahead on this, they don't need to be to the hostess til Feb 1st. But I really want to be ahead of deadlines this year.

This I just finished the binding this morning at our meeting, this is a quick and easy embroidery by This and That. I finished the center in about 2 evenings watching TV with hubby. And then bordered it last night.

And here is a picture of my Poochie, this is her Christmas bone and she carries this with her everywhere! She is a sweetie and I don't think I have introduced you to her yet.
She is a chow / shepard mix and she is smart as a shepard and always patrolling the yard like a shepard.

Be sure to check out Kims Big Quilting Adventure Blog (see the link on my sidebar) to see the Valentine Blog hop starting this Sunday.

I hope your new Year is going well. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Stitches!

Happy New Year!

How are you doing? Are you looking forward to something special in 2011?

We just got back last night from Minnesota, my best friends Grandpa passed away and we attended his visitation. He was 90 and married to her Grandma for 70 years last summer, her Grandma is 90 also and will be missing her husband so much, I pray that she will be strong to move forward. I can't imagine the pain she is in right now. They were such a wonderful couple, they were in Florida three years ago and had their picture taken in their swim suits, so adorable. They are both special people and have a special place in my heart.

Just before we left I had finished cleaning my Creation Station and so today since it is Sunday and it is Football day - I think I will relax and sew. Not sure what to start with....

I added a new blog to my side bar it is Little Miss Shabby, go check it out, she has an embroidery BOM. I might start that today then I could stitch and watch the Bears with Dear Hubby.

I am going to get my day started!
